Privacy Policy

Dexter Digital is the owner and operator of this website. We take protecting your online anonymity seriously.

We at Dexter Digital aim to provide you with a pleasant and secure digital environment.

We believe it is important that you fully understand our policy and the terms and conditions around the capture and use of any personal information we may collect from you. In this privacy statement, we explain what data we collect and how we put it to use.

The Data We Collect and Maintain

There are two categories of user data that we collect:

User-submitted data is information that the user voluntarily submits. These include information you voluntarily give us in order to subscribe to our electronic newsletters, to use our message boards or forums, to send an electronic greeting card, or to enter any of our contests, surveys, or other promotional features.

To determine user behavior, we compile detailed tracking information primarily through tallying page views throughout our sites. Having this data at our disposal helps us provide content that is more relevant to our audience. Information about specific users is never shared outside the company.

Following are some of the ways in which we collect data on our users: Discretionary Non-Required Data.

For the following services, we ask for users’ contact details on a voluntary basis:

The Dispatches policy states that users can subscribe to a free electronic newsletter. If you freely subscribe, we will have access to your email address. An unsubscribe link is included in every newsletter issue that directs readers to the list’s administration page.

Policy permitting users to electronically forward a link, page, or documents to a friend by clicking a “e-mail this to a friend” button is in effect across all of our sites. Users are required to enter both their own and the intended recipient’s email addresses. Only in the event of a transmission error will this data be used, and it will also be shown so the recipient knows who sent the email. There is no secondary use for the data collected.

If you actively use our Site, we may occasionally contact you about contests you can enter. You are under no duty to accept an invitation from us to participate in a competition, and doing so is entirely at your own discretion. If you choose to enter a competition, the information you submit will be treated with the same care as any other customer information and will be used only in accordance with the rules of the competition and this Privacy Statement.

Users will be able to simply express their thoughts with other users and gauge the general sentiment on contentious matters through our polling features. Users’ individual responses to polls or surveys are removed from the final tally to ensure their anonymity. To prevent users from casting duplicate votes, we may implement a system that “tags” them once they cast their ballot. Data about specific users cannot be inferred from the presence of this tag.

Occasionally, we may ask for your feedback by means of a survey, so that we can tailor the information we provide to your specific interests. Sponsors, advertisers, and partners sometimes receive summary results from these surveys. To put it simply, we never give out personal details about anyone to anyone else.

Monitoring Activity

The navigational habits of our visitors are meticulously monitored. However, we do not link these statistics to user profiles. By parsing the browser string (information present in every user’s browser), we are able to categorise usage data based on things like domain name, browser, and MIME type.

On occasion, we may record and catalogue the search phrases that visitors use in our Search field; however, we never link these search terms to specific visitors. In order to figure out what content on our site users enjoy and don’t like, we analyse the data we collect via tracking. While we do analyse overall readership levels, we do not monitor specific readers’ actions. This is useful in ensuring that we can keep improving our service for you.

Cookies

A “cookie” is a little text file that may be placed in your web browser’s data files. Although the cookie itself does not store any personally identifiable information, it does allow us to associate your visits to our site with the data you have willingly and knowingly supplied. However, a cookie can only save data that you voluntarily submit to the website. There is no way for a cookie to access your hard drive or read cookie files made by other sites. Cookie data is used to analyse how our site is used (as described above). In order to keep tabs on how many times an ad is seen and how often it is clicked, our system issues a one-time cookie.

Refusing cookies is as simple as disabling cookie acceptance in your browser settings. A cookie-related warning will appear with each cookie if your browser is configured to display a warning before accepting cookies. Turning on cookies for this site is optional. However, cookies are required for full functionality of most online discussion forums, blogs, polling services, and other such features.

Effective Data Utilization

User-provided data is used in a variety of ways, including the provision of interactive or personalised components on the site and the better preparation of future material depending on the interests of our users.

This information is used for sending out electronic newsletters and allowing users to take part in polls, surveys, competitions, message boards, and forums, as described above. Depending on the newsletter, we send out issues on a set timetable, and we also release special issues when we think readers will be very interested in a certain topic. We never sell or give away our newsletter subscriber list to anybody, not even advertising, sponsors, or partners.

We do not track what individual visitors read when we utilise tracking information to see which parts of the site are popular and which aren’t based on traffic to those parts. This is useful in ensuring that we can keep improving our service for you. In order to get a better understanding of our users’ interests, we keep tabs on the terms they use in the Search bar. We don’t keep tabs on the specific search phrases that users use, though.

For our advertising, sponsors, and partners, we compile aggregate reports detailing user demographics and traffic trends. Individual user activity is not tracked, thus no advertiser or sponsor will ever know that a particular user interacted with their ad. Users’ personal information will not be shared unless required to do so by law, legitimate legal process, or to prevent imminent physical harm to the user or the public.

Exposure to the Data

All of this data is used to make our content more relevant to you. Other than to comply with the law or legitimate legal process or to protect the personal safety of our users or the public, we will not disclose any information regarding individual users to any third party.

Security

Our data networks are safe and encrypted with the latest firewall and password security technology. Only authorised personnel are granted access to any information submitted by our customers, and we conduct regular reviews and enhancements to our security and privacy standards.

The Right to Withdraw or Refuse Consent

When it makes sense, we provide users with multiple options.

Optional alternatives are:

Choosing to sign up for our email newsletters.

Users can choose not to provide any personally identifying information by not using any of the interactive features.

Ability to unsubscribe from email updates.

Explicit Permission

You are giving Dexter Digital permission to collect and use this data by using this site.

To ensure that you are constantly informed of what data we collect, how we use it, and when we release it, any updates to our privacy policy will be made here.
